DAVV loses R 18L due to college's carelessness
The failure of Institute of Management Science (IMS) to submit documents in time to All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) cost Rs 18 lakh as the Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya (DAVV) lost on non-resident Indian (NRI) quota of seats.
According to sources there was delay in submitting relevant documents on part of IMS, which nearly led to non-registration and missing chance of boarding bandwagon for Madhya Pradesh Management Entrance Test (MP MET).
IMS also got to appear in the last round of technical education counselling. This happened due to IMS again getting late in completing paperwork with the AICTE and Directorate of Technical Education (DTE).
Resultantly IMS was not allotted NRI quota in counselling. IMS could give six admissions under NRI quota seats. The varsity charged up to $ 6000 USD/ NRI seat. This roughly translates to a loss of Rs 18 lakh to DAVV exchequer.
These failures heckled vice-chancellor (V-C) Dr PN Mishra into taking action resulting in ouster of Dr Jayant Sonwalkar from charge of academic director. He would, however, continue holding charge of director Directorate Distance Education (DDE).
Head of Department School of Future Studies Dr RC Sharma on being handed over temporary charge of academic director IMS found that students classes were not being held for the past one month. He issued orders for regular classes. With MET counselling having begun, students have started registering online. The conducting body-Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (VYAPAM) will make final submissions on August 12. Instructions have been issued for IMS by the varsity with the message: 'not to falter'.
